smoke the moon and Javier Ramirez are thrilled to present And 1 Mixtape Tour Vol. 1 a group show of artists curated by Javier Ramirez. And 1 Mix Tape Tour Vol. 1 brings together Rachid Bouhamidi, Joachim Castaneda, Dillan Conniff, Daniel Gibson, Carley Gmitro, Mariano Meneses, Samala Meza, Jean Nagai, Willbert Olivar & Lalo Avila, Ricardo Passaporte, Ken Taylor Reynaga Jr., Mia Scarpa, Alake Shilling, Marley White, and Haniko Zahra. The sixteen artists in this show work across painting, sculpture and ceramics to present something that is both mobile and lighthearted. The exhibition will open with a reception on Friday, October 9, 2026 from 5 - 8pm. 

This show was curated in the spirit of the original And 1 Mixtape. And 1 was a roving streetball competition and subsequent mail-in mixtape fuzed street basketball style and hip-hop culture. And 1 was devoted to flash as a cultural mechanism: style, personality and personal mythology dominated the field. Taking note from the original, Ramirez is interested in the way this group show emerges as something that travels between people: both a team and a feeling. 

And 1 Mixtape Vol. 1 is a group show that pokes at the edge of its own method, approaching the serious task of creating something with a communal burst of energy. The work in this group show has a morphic jubilance. The artists are united by an interest in saturation and playfulness, with the tone and color of the work moving between psychic and external states.
